*Duration: 3+ months* *Start date: ASAP – please let me know earliest available* Scope needed: VMware will demonstrate how BDE and vSphere will allow Client to: 1. Centrally deploy and manage virtualized Hadoop clusters through the BDE interface. 2. Scale-up Hadoop resources on vSphere infrastructure 3. Maximize performance and utilization by pooling resources. 4. Separate data and compute through virtual machines 5. Increase flexibility to allow for easier management of Optum’s Hadoop clusters To this end, specific tasks will include: • Install and configure BDE in UHS’s existing vSphere 5 environment • Establish production-like scenarios for Hadoop clusters • Benchmark individual Hadoop administrator tasks against ‘current' environment. • Benchmark virtual infrastructure administrator tasks against 'current' environment. • Demonstrate BDE features that will extend UHS’s 'current' capabilities to scale and manage its Hadoop clusters and resources. VMware Professional Services will provide resident consultant(s) to work full-time on-site at Customer location. The VMware resident consultant will take project, task, and day-to-day direction from Customer project manager.
