Scope of Position:

The Senior DBA is responsible for managing and supporting, integration,
performance tuning and optimization, integrity and security of all data
warehouse database environments.

The Senior DBA is also responsible for supporting database application
deployments in the production EDW environments.



Primary Responsibilities:

Senior DBA reports to Data Management Manager to:

·         Develop, test, deploy and maintain comprehensive and highly
reliable database backup and restore procedures.

·     Monitor database performance, backup, and recovery.

·     Support the growth of a SQL Server environment designed to support
internal systems.

·     Create and maintain automated repeatable maintenance processes for
optimal database performance and reliability.

·     Server and network design, database tuning, and optimization.

·     Work with technology support resources, system engineers, and
developers to ensure database reliability, health, and performance.

·     Provide documentation and support for database configurations, data
structures, and other components.

·     Enforce that data security, appropriate access are established and
tested.

·     Monitor and tune SQL servers and SQL jobs for enhanced performance
and operations.

·     Analyze and troubleshoot SQL server production issues related to
performance, errors, and/or capacity.

·     Install, upgrade, configure and maintain SQL servers in a virtualized
Windows environment.

·     Plan capacity and monitor database growth.

·     Periodically review user access requirements, monitor and manage SQL
server security, logins, roles and user access.

·     Design, build and rebuild database indexes for optimal efficiency.

·     Develop, test, deploy and maintain database routines/scripts for
administering all SQL server production databases for high availability,
reliability and optimal performance.

·     Write highly-efficient SQL statements that perform well against large
databases.

·     Develop ETL processes to import and export data between databases and
other external sources.

·     Maintain and support data loads and data transformation processes.

·     Design, test and document data recovery and disaster recovery
strategies.

·     Conduct database schema, T-SQL scripts, code review and assure code
complies with coding standards prior to moving them from test or QA to
production.

·     Work with application developers to know how front end applications
work and participate in performance testing results.

·     Critically review and propose enhancements to the Company’s database
environment.

·     Write database technical documentation, including database security
standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary.

·     Other duties as assigned.



*JOB REQUIREMENTS*

·         Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture and environment.

·         Experience designing and performance tuning SQL Server databases.

·         Thorough understanding of database and data warehouse designs.

·         Experience with database and T-SQL optimization, profiling,
troubleshooting, capacity planning, scaling & availability; storage
management, database backups/restores.

·         Strong SQL Server 2012/2014 experience Integration Services,
T-SQL, and programming stored procedures, triggers, and functions.

·         Capable of developing in Microsoft MDS

·         Strong Knowledge of SSIS technology and developing/supporting ETL
packages.

·         Knowledge of Spotlight DBA tools is a plus.

·         Strong knowledge of relational data modeling using Erwin and
enterprise system development and integration

·         Ability to work with others in a constructive and collaborative
manner

·         Ability to think critically; to recognize and anticipate a
problem (technical, operational, process, organizational) and to identify
and implement or communicate the best solution in a timely manner.

·         Excellent communication skills with entire team (developers,
business analysts, project managers, system engineers, etc.)

·         Understanding of external dependencies and their effect on
database design.

·         Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

·         Candidate must be self-motivated, possess excellent verbal and
written communication skills.

·         Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team
environment.

·         Strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and a positive
attitude.

·         Ability to manage own work, multi-task and prioritize tasks.

·         Ability to work extended hours and weekends on occasion.

·         Maintain knowledge of current and future technology platforms
through user/peer groups, schools, seminars, and publications.



Education:  Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent
experience.



Experience:  Must have a minimum 5 years of experience in a database
administrative and database development role, with specific experience
using Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft SQL Server certification is a plus.

Experience in VMWare virtualization and centralized storage concepts and
applications a plus.
