As a member of the Advisor Services Database Technology team, you will be
immersed in a collaborative, innovative, and technically challenging
environment. As a Senior Database developer you will be responsible for
leading the development and support of several Advisor Services centralized
databases written in Oracle and MS SQL Server. We're looking for team
members that are eager to learn and implement new technologies and provide
outstanding database solutions.
As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator you will be responsible for
helping to deliver quality technology and software initiatives by:
• Participating in data service architecture strategy discussions
• Leading development and tactical support of enterprise-level Oracle, MS
SQL Server, and no SQL databases using store packages, procedures and
triggers
• Collaborating with business partners on requirements and forward-thinking
database solutions
• Partnering with application developers on designs, models and best in
class implementation
• Interacting with experts from across Schwab in different support
organizations and business groups
• Being a member of Agile team(s) that focuses on delivering what the
client needs
• Working together with other database leads to establish standards,
procedures and design patterns
• Mentoring and training associate developers
Education:
Additional Job Details: As a senior team member you will have the following
skills and experience: • Strong foundational understanding of database
concepts and development technologies • Excellent problem solving and
troubleshooting skills, coupled with a desire to take on responsibilities •
Experience actively collaborating with Agile teams to support software
development lifecycle • Ability to effectively manage multiple, competing,
high-priority projects with varying deadlines • Experience writing and
contributing to detailed design, functional specifications or technical
requirements • Experience interfacing with business partners at various
levels including senior management • Excellent written and verbal
communication skills • Ability to independently work well together as a
member of cross-functional teams • Track record of being detailed oriented,
self-starter and deliverables with minimal defects • Demonstrated
experience with data modeling and performance tuning queries • Must be a
critical thinker and solutions-oriented • Strong analytical and
problem-solving skills • Strong influencing, decision-making and conflict
resolution skills • Must be able to quickly grasp complex concepts and
learn new technologies • Be a role model and a leader on the team As a
technical leader you will have the following skills and experience: •
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or
a related field • Strong database design skills gained through 5+ years
hands on experience with relational database development using stored
procedures primarily in Oracle and MS SQL Server • Proficiency in
performance tuning using explain plans and baselines • Good knowledge on
High-availability & Disaster Recovery data architectures • Proficiency with
Unix/Linux Shell scripting (Korn Shell (KSH), BASH, etc.) • Prior
experience with job scheduling systems (ESP, Autosys, Cron, etc.) • Prior
experience with No SQL databases like MongoDB a plus • Prior experience
with Microsoft TFS, C#/.NET is a plus • Prior exposure to the financial
industry will set you apart • Prior Agile development experience is a plus
