The Database Specialist (DBA)ÿ is a top level technical contributor for
the Database area and an internal consultant providing database technical
guidance on complex projects and ongoing support requirements.
*The primary responsibilities* for this position are:
1. Provides project leadership for new deployments.
2. Directs external contingents, including the supervision, allocation of
work assignments, and communications.
3. Provides direction and designÿ requirements for databases.
Understands and supports the movement of data between systems and between
our systems and those of our customers and suppliers.
*Purpose of Position: *
1. Develop, evaluate, and carry out complex Database related assignments,
requiring new or improved procedures and information systems practices.
2. Acting independently, or under very little direction, drive the concept
planning, and take a lead role in planning, and implementation efforts in
the development of major SAP, strategic, corporate level information
systems.
3. Regularly operates under deadlines, and may be subject to extreme
workloads.Errors may cause significant disruption to company operations
and/or major costs.
4. Provides quality assurance review. Quality review includes, but is not
limited to, insuring that information security policies, procedures, and
standards associated with any database project meet or exceed internal
auditing requirements.
5. Emphasis on this position is to apply extensive and diversified database
technical knowledge and experience in information systems technologies to
related areas of assignments.
*Responsibilities*
Specific Duties/Key Results:
1. The staff advisor and consultant for a specific or multiple database
management systems (SQL, DB2, Informix).
2. As individual professional, carries out complex assignments requiring
the development of new or improved procedures.
3. Plans,schedules, conducts, executes, or coordinates detailed phases of
major programs.
4.Develops and evaluates plans and criteria to be carried out by others;
provides direction and
leadership.
5. Assesses feasibility and soundness of tests, software, system
interfaces, and/or equipment.
6. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined
procedures,processes, practices, or methods.
7. Keeps abreast of new methods & developments in the database field.
8. Accomplish a high degree of user personnel awareness,
participation, and commitment
to the design & evolution of their information systems.
9. Works independently, or in charge of the maintenance and development of
systems.
