CCES is a system that will allow students at any of the ten UC campuses to enroll in courses at a different UC campus. Enrollment requests and all subsequent Student Information System messages/data will pass through a “hub” hosted by the University of California Office of the President (UCOP – located in Oakland, CA). The business logic will not be particularly difficult; however, the message queueing, service bus utilization, and API work will not be trivial. I am looking for three medium-experience-level PO contract Java programmers for approximately 6 months as follows: Two Java application programmers One Java middleware programmer Successful candidates for the two Java programmer spots will have strong mid- and backend- design and development experience along with good front-end skills. *Must have:* • Java/J2EE • Spring MVC framework (3.1) • jQuery • JSP • Hibernate-JPA-ORM-JTA • DB2 SQL • Apache Tomcat • Demonstrated experience working independently and as a team member throughout all stages of software development. • Ability to develop applications from wireframe diagrams and written requirements • Complete understanding of and familiarity with unit testing, integration testing, QA testing, and user acceptance testing. *Should have:* • AJAX • JSON • CSS/HTML • Familiarity with Linux and Shell programming • Services: REST/SOAP • Creating/Consuming web services • Eclipse, SVN • JavaScript • Servlets • Ability to prepare effective technical (design, test document) and non-technical (mock-up, requirements) documentation • Experience in interfacing with non-technical users throughout the development life cycle *Prefer Experience With:* • jBoss • Maven • JMS/ActiveMQ • Development tools such as Fire Bug • HP automated testing tools or similar • Mobile optimization and responsive design concepts • Academic student applications.
