*Description*:
The Senior Application Developer will be responsible for working directly
with the business users, enterprise architecture team, project managers,
business analysis, quality assurance team, DBAs and operations team to
design and develop web-based solutions for the $2.0 billion dollar annual
sales website using J2EE and ATG technology.
*Job Responsibilities:*
- Works with the business, enterprise architecture team, quality
assurance team, project managers, ERP team, DBAs, operations and support
team to deliver eBusiness solutions to the business in a lean and agile
manner.
- As part of project team, performs design, implementation, unit tests,
and code review.
- Translates functional requirements into conceptual and detailed
designs; Provides estimates for development effort; Implementing proof of
concept, prototypes and production-grade software; writes unit tests;
coordinates with from QA/Test.
- In agile project team, participate in iterative development including
sprint planning, daily scrum, release and retrospective meetings.
- Supports VWR Global Websites for enhancements and break-fix. Assists
Operations and Support staff in trouble-shooting software issues as well as
implementing bug fixes.
*Experience & Skills:*
- Extensive knowledge/experience in design and implementation of
ecommerce web applications
- Expert level Java web development, skills include: JSP, servlet, JSTL,
JMS, JMX, JAXB, JAX-WS, CXF and JAX-RS
- Strong knowledge of open source tools and frameworks: Spring,
Hibernate, CXF, ANT, MAVEN, JUNIT, JMeter, Log4j, StAX, TrAX, and ActiveMQ
and experience in one or more of the following languages: python, C/C++,
perl, and shell scripts
- Knowledge/ Experience in using one or more version control systems for
branching and merging such as SVN and CVS
- Knowledge/Experience developing applications in a Linux operating
system
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, including Core J2EE
Design Patterns and UML
- Knowledge/Experience in web UI development – HTML, JavaScript, JSP,
CSS, AJAX, and jQuery.
- Knowledge/Experience working with JBoss and Apache
- Knowledge/Experience with ATG V9.x and V10.x a huge plus
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of relational database structure
and design using Oracle 10G. 11G. Experience developing and supporting
Oracle stored procedures
- Knowledge/Experience with performance tuning (front-end/back-end)
- Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude
- Team player, experienced in an agile development environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate with
business analysts/system analysts
- Able to comprehend business needs and concerns and integrate that
understanding into design and implementation
*Qualifications:*
- Bachelors degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent
experience and/or certificates
- 7+ years of extensive web based Java development experience in a team
environment.
- Web development experience using J2EE technology, Spring Framework,
web service (SOAP, RESTFul), DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery, SQL, and
DBMS/Oracle
- Object Oriented design and implementation experience
- ATG commerce platform experience
*Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort:*
- Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and
ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
- Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used
to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve
problems.
- A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
- Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does
require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects
that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
