*Position: Data Modeler*

*Location: Mc Lean, VA*

*Duration: 2 Years*

 I have 2 Data Modeler openings. These would be up to 2 year contracts*. **An
in-person* *interview is required after the phone screen*. H1B candidates
are fine but they would need to be on our W2. We can't have layers. The job
description is below.





Job Description:



The Sr. Data Modeler will work closely with project teams to understand
business requirements and provide data modeling subject matter expertise.
Strong quantitative and analytic skills are required.

The Sr. Data Modeler will:
•    Develop logical and physical data models
•    Map logical entities to the enterprise Canonical Data Model
•    Ensure data objects adhere to defined Freddie Mac standards and best
practices
•    Baseline DDLs
•    Develop, test, and implement scripts, programs, and related processes
to collect, manage, and publish DEV and PROD metadata from data models
•    Develop DDL implementation/back-out plans
•    Promote data models into production metadata environments
•    Support DDL PROD implementation
•    Support post-production validation of DDL
•    Provide Level of Efforts (LOEs), activity status, identify
dependencies impacting deliverables, identify risks and mitigation plans,
identify issues and impacts

Educational and Work Requirements
•    Bachelor Degree from an accredited university with coursework in
Business, Information Technology, or Engineering.
•    8-10 years of data modeling and metadata management experience.
•    Experience with both relational and dimensional data modeling
•    Experience with data management standards and data model practices
•    Experience with query capabilities such as Visual Basic macro
development and SQL
•    Experience with physical data structure design in DB2, UDB, Oracle,
Sybase, and/or SQL Server using ER/Studio DA or ERwin,
•    Experience using ClearCase, GIT, Remedy, ER/Studio DA
•    Mortgage/finance industry data modeling experience

Looking for a pure data modeler and this is a CONTRACT position

Looking for somebody that has worked within an Agile Environment, can bring
new ideas to the table, and also work with the business side

Some Screening Questions/topics from Phone Interviews -

·         What is the difference between Logical and Physical Data models

·         How do you take a logical model and turn it into a physical model?

·         How to you decide to normalize data vs. denormalizing data

·         What are the advantages of keeping the data normalized?

·         What is the risk in denormalized data?

·         What type of metadata do you keep in data models

·         Describe dimensional modeling

·         Described the difference between snowflake and star schema

·         what is SCD

·         Primary Key vs. Unique Index

·         What is a surrogate key

·         What are naming standards and why are they important

·         What are the advantages and disadvantages of using Agile vs.
Traditional Waterfall methodologies

·         ER Studio - have you used?

·         How much interaction have you had with the business area

·         How do you handle difficult customers/stakeholders who do not
want to follow standard modeling procedures/processes?

We CAN fill these positions.

Prior Freddie/Fannie is preferred, but not mandatory

Financial Industry experience is mandatory

Must have strong communication skills

LOCAL candidates take first preference, and are HIGHLY preferred
