Job Requirements: Minimum 3-4 years of data management experience Knowledge of meta data standards, especially data description and naming standards Familiarity with at least one commercial meta data repository product. Experience and understanding of meta data objects that are typically found in meta data repositories. For example: •Data Models: Conceptual, Logical, Physical •ETL: Informatica processes – to what level of detail? Informatica also has its own tool repository. •BI reporting environments •Databases Data Sources – internal and external i.e. record-keeping systems, Industry code sets Data Targets – Data Warehouse, Data Marts Reference data servers Database Views Highly process-focused individual. Ability to create simple scripts as required to provide useful meta database functionality or customization that may not be available “out of the box”. Job Description: Oversee creation and maintenance of MetaCenter repository databases. Enforce internal processes to optimize the use of meta data administration tools. Understand the organization’s usage patterns and processes to establish the blueprint in MetaCenter or any other repository of choice. •Implement folder structure for meta data content in Meta Center. •Set up access control templates aligned to data governance roles and PWI organization. •Set up MetaCenter User Access and permissions aligned to data governance roles. Adhere to change control processes: coordinate changes to content in a given environment in a controlled and organized manner. Manage the flow of meta data to and from Development, Test, and Production environments. •Make approved extensions to the repository schema. •Facilitate automated relationship connections between objects in MetaCenter. •Assist business users with meta data input as required. •Check content submissions against standards: •Data Modeling best practices •Meta data compliance & completeness •Data Description and Naming Standards •Process quality and completeness Create standard queries and meta data reports – extracts of meta data per constituency, published via portal or other mechanisms: e.g. •Glossary of Terms •Standard Data Definitions •Keyword Glossary: Terms and Std. Abbreviations •Where-used impact reports •Basic Lineage Ensure that meta data server content backup is scheduled to be performed per SLA. Participate in testing content restore capabilities.
