This position requires a senior level systems administrator with top Unix
skills to handle our growing Unix, VMware and Storage infrastructure as well
as manage key IT initiatives.The position offers strong opportunities for
growth and development. It is a consulting position with potential for
conversion
to full time.
*Greenwich, CT*
Responsibilities
* Core duties include maintaining and expanding our Unix, VMware, and
Storage infrastructure, providing second and third level support to users
and other IT team members, and developing multiple new projects.
* This Systems Administrator will be a leader of key projects and be the
technical lead in his or her areas of expertise. Current projects include
centralization of storage systems, new market data delivery system
deployment, ongoing security, compliance and audit tasks, upgrades of our
architectures and infrastructures, and constant improvements to existing
operational and disaster recovery systems.
* Future projects include backup and archiving re-architecture, a
technology refresh/conversion from Solaris and SLES to RedHat Linux, and a
Unix/AD integration project.
* There is exposure to the business units of the company and working
relationships with the Software Development, Business Operations and
Telecommunications divisions of IT.
Job Requirements
* B.S. / B.A. degree (or higher) preferably in Computer Science /
Mathematics / Engineering. GPA > 3.0.
* 5+ years experience in Unix systems and infrastructure administration
and engineering.
* Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills.
* Solaris and Linux (SLES and/or RedHat) experience required
* Perl Programming experience required.
Further Desired Qualifications/Experience
* Network Appliance and VMware knowledge a strong plus.
* Other shell scripting and programming (C, C++, Java)
* Automating administrative tasks and reporting projects
* Networking (TCP/IP and WAN). Cisco knowledge preferred.
* Windows (Active Directory, MS-SQL Server, Exchange)
* Sybase
* Windows / UNIX integration
* Telecom/Datacom
* Market Data delivery
* Storage technologies. (RAID, SAN, FiberChannel)
* HP servers, blades and related technology.
* Exposure to financial services or trading floor environment
