*ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCAL AND AVAILABLE TO INTERVIEW FOR FACE-TO-FACE!!* *Heavy C#, VB6, POS* Client is seeking a *knowledgeable C#/VB developer*. Strong communication skills are a must with an understanding of a *Point of Sale system.* The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and support of systems. The ideal candidate will have retail systems experience as well as experience in *Microsoft’s latest technologies, including .Net, C#, VB, and SQL.* The individual will participate in all phases of the software implementation process including both package and custom development. Software development processes will include requirements gathering and analysis, functional design, technical design, coding, testing, implementation, and post implementation support. Associate will interact with his or her supervisor as needed by either. Most activities are completed without a supervisor’s advance approval. * ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** · Monitor and support information systems. · Make suggestions to management, based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration time for information systems. · Research, test, and apply all applicable patches. · Ability to understand and apply basic software implementation methodology concepts · Experience in Microsoft development languages, coupled with a strong emphasis on object-oriented design and implementation · *Strong local syntax SQL (Standard Query Language) skills and ability to understand relational data models. *· Perform on call duties on rotation with other developers. *RELATED COMPETENCIES* Once essential duties and responsibilities have been clearly defined, will align them to the 3-4 competencies most closely associated with this role. *BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)* A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related degree including relevant work experience. *· 3-5 years of application design, development and maintenance. This should include Microsoft .Net and VB with strong SQL Server experience. *· Must have aggressive attitude and be eager to continue growing and learning. · Must be willing to do some maintenance on older technologies. · Must have some of the intangible leadership type qualities and desire. · Knowledge of *XML / XSL* · Knowledge of *Microsoft .Net technologies.* · Knowledge of *Microsoft TCP/IP networks* · Educational and implementation experience with current Microsoft desktop/server operating systems. · Good communication skills and a friendly empathetic demeanor. · Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. · Ability to work alone or in a team environment.
