Position Description & Summary of Duties

The SAP Systems Administrator will be responsible for the day to day
technical systems support of SAP systems (currently: ECC 5, BW 7.01,
NetWeaver Portal 7, Exchange Infrastructure 3.0, Solution Manager 7.01, BPC
7.0, and BusinessObjects XI 3.1.)  The administrator will be responsible of
the lifecycle management of the systems – planning and executing
installations, patches, upgrades. Performing system copies, when requested.
Working with the development and functional teams to promote changes through
the environment. Provides the highest level of technical expertise and
consulting on the SAP Basis systems to process teams and IT staff. Establish
the infrastructure standards and requirements. Evaluates, directs and
supports SAP system enhancements and performs quality assurance functions.
Researches and implements solutions for Basis functionality in the areas of
performance monitoring and tuning and systems configurations, designs and
implementation.
Works closely with systems analysts and other team members to understand
business IT requirements that drive the analysis and design of technical
solutions that are in compliance with blueprints and business strategies.
Viewed both internally and externally as a Technical Expert and critical
technical resource.

Primary responsibilities include
Installation and upgrade of various SAP instances in the landscape,
Day to day monitoring of SAP logs and proactively fix error conditions.
Troubleshoot problems reported by users of the various SAP products.
Performing root cause analysis on all production support related issues
General application system management knowledge and experience on both ABAP
and J2EE stack in SAP systems.
Patch administration, kernel upgrades, knowledge of using SPDD, SPAU
transactions and SAP note application.
Responsible for providing off hours maintenance.
SAP system monitoring and performance tuning.
SAP system trouble shooting and problem resolution working in conjunction
with the help desk and Process Teams.
Support SAP printing, email and fax architectures.
Provide assistance either primary or secondary CTS support.
Create system copies and client copies/exports/imports when needed.
Performing root cause analysis on all production support related issues
Providing production support for applications 24x7 when assigned as the
primary contact
Responding to user/operator requests and inquiries
Responsibility for problem analysis and resolution
Communicating status, issues, and impacts, with team, team leadership,
relevant client sponsors and process owners
Monitoring system health, troubleshooting/rectifying system errors,
performing system upgrades and modifications.
Responsible for providing detailed documents for infrastructure and all
procedures relating to the support of the system.
Responsible for ensuring backups/restores run successfully on all systems.
Will assist in developing and testing a disaster recovery plan.

Education
A 4-year degree in Computer Information Systems is preferred.   Also
preferred are Industry recognized classes and certification in SAP Basis
administration.

Experience (Required)
Five years of experience with SAP Basis/NetWeaver Application Server in a
Microsoft Windows/SQL Server infrastructure environment. (NetWeaver 640 and
NetWeaver 7 with upgrade experience is strongly preferred.)
SQL Server database level understanding and troubleshooting experience of
SAP application performance issues
Experience in supporting technical change management with TMS and CMS and
supporting SAP application level security implementation is desirable.
At least three years of SAP NetWeaver product experience with ABAP and JAVA
stack to be able to support an integrated environment that includes ECC, BW,
Portal, and XI.  Additional experience with CCMS, Solution Manager for
central system administration and E2E would be desirable.
Multiple implementation lifecycles of SAP systems with significant
post-implementation support.
Good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven track record in customer satisfaction.

Experience (Preferred)
ERP 2004 to ERP 6 Upgrades.
ERP 6 Enhancement Pack implementations.
Strong XI/PI experience highly preferred’
Archiving.
SLD Maintenance/Cleanup.
SQL Server data compression of SAP databases.
