*Position: Network Engineer (CCNP Certified) Location: Ann Arbor, MI | Duration: Long Term Contract* * LOCAL CANDIDATES THAT ARE AVAILABLE ASAP HIGHLY PREFERRED!! *Opportunity: Customer needs two resources to join the Network Engineering team with the ability to take off-hours on-call duty, for a period of 6 months. ** Responsibilities: ** Design and maintain LAN/WAN, Firewall, ISDN, Internet Access, VPN, RAS, DNS, IDS in an environment with 1000+ network devices Log and Event management Create and document standards and procedures Administer network management and monitoring tools Diagnose Network operational problems and provide effective solutions Provide analysis and planning efforts for LAN/WAN changes that support data integrity and performance Analyze Network performance data and make recommendations for improvements and optimization maximizing network availability and ensuring network security Evaluate the efficiency of the network operations, and make recommendations involving equipment and software efficiency and the need for replacement Provide users and management with advisory and technical guidance and recommendations to improve network operations, functionality, control, and overall support Document network topology and site configurations Analyze existing network procedures for efficiency and effectiveness Provide second level support for LAN/WAN and escalated issues Network Project Implementation ** Qualifications: ** Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience *CCNP * 5+ years of extensive experience installing, configuring, and trouble shooting CISCO routers and switches Strong knowledge and experience with Cisco routing, switching and firewall products Knowledge and experience with Secure Web Gateways/Internet Proxy Devices Knowledge and experience working with Juniper VPN connectivity Previous experience with switched Campus Backbone, Frame Relay, Firewall, IDS, Voice over IP, SNMP/RMON based network management Strong organizational, documentation, and communications skills Knowledge and experience working with a large enterprise network with multiple locations preferred Ability to lead small projects including planning and implementing short and long term work plans and successfully completing projects on schedule Ability to successfully prioritize and complete projects and daily activities Ability to engineer and support the Network that will result in maximum availability and performance including offering comprehensive solutions Ability to understand user/company requirements and offer solutions, communicating effectively with users, vendors and supervisors Ability to communicate unresolved problems to vendors and management and to work the problem until resolution Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to communicate effectively with users, vendors and supervisors to accomplish business objectives Ability to participate in a 24X7 on call rotation.
