Description/Comment:

In an Intel server environment, performs installation, customization and
maintenance of the operating system and system software products in support
of business processing requirements.

Performs system software installations, system software maintenance and
product upgrades. Evaluate and integrate new operating system versions,
drivers and hardware.

Tests software updates and patches.

Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels in
standalone and multi-tiered environments.

Conducts system analysis, configuration management and develops
improvements for system software performance, availability and reliability.

Perform Incident resolution, Problem Determination and Root Cause Analysis
in accordance with Service Level Agreements.

Designs, develops, recommends and implements new or revised system
software, utilities and automated processes as necessary.

Provides in-depth diagnosis for operating systems software/hardware
failures and develops solutions.

Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing
appropriate software and hardware solutions.

Prescribes system backup / disaster recovery procedures and directs
recovery operations in the event of destruction of all or part of the
operating system or other system components. Implements appropriate levels
of system security.

Provides technical expertise for system Transitions, Migrations and
Consolidations. Provides technical assistance to IT support staff,
including but not limited to, DBAs, Network Engineers, Application
Developers, Middleware Engineers, other System Administrators, Project
Managers, Change Managers and Business Development staff.

Typically, the Specialist level is a key technical resource in the design,
architecture and deployment of new systems to keep the Intel server
environment stable and interruptions to a minimum in standalone and
multi-tiered environments.

Is very proficient in at least two Intel based related areas in addition to
Specialist Core proficiencies.

Participates in the planning phase for system requirements on various
projects for deployment of business functions on Intel servers.

Owns tasks for implementation of new hardware, operating systems and other
required software on the systems.

The Specialist is expected to conduct, with limited support and direction,
system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing
technologies and work with other professional technical staff in evaluating
current systems and making decisions on future development.

Provides advice, training, and 24x7 technical support to customers, users
and programmers.

Acts as a technical resource / mentor for Intel Analysts and Technicians.

Proficient in both written and verbal communications.

Good project management skills.

Comprehensive troubleshooting skills.

Specialist must have all of the technical skills required for an Analyst.

Good customer facing / presentation skills.

Project management experience supporting data centers migrations and major
software upgrades. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Specialist must have all of the technical skills required for an Analyst.
Possess significant knowledge of the Intel OS internals.

Knowledge of commonly used scripting languages for Windows (VBScript, Perl,
etc.).

Acts as Intel systems architect in standalone and multi-tiered environments.

Proficient in Intel and Windows security.

Recognized expert in two or more lines of the following Intel areas:

Operating Systems: (NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Linux, Novell);

Tuning: (System/Network/Database/Application); Backups: (Netbackup,
Veritas, TSM, Custom); High Availability: (Clusters, Web Farms, Load
Balancing); SAN: (EMC, Clarion);

Databases: (Oracle, SQL Server); Networking: (DNS, NIS, NFS, Cisco, BigIP);
Security: (System/Network/Application Hardening);

Programming: (C/C++, Perl/CGI, HTML, Java/J2EE, VBScript);

Middleware: (Citrix, AD, IIS, WebSphere, WebLogic); Complex
