Cognos Developer

We have this one in Austin TX, 1+ year contract,



*MUST BE LOCAL CANDIDATES*. Candidates should have experience converting
Cognos 8.1 reports over to Microsoft SSRS 2008/2012. Please note that
Microsoft SSRS experience is required. Experience in another major BI tool
(Business Objects, Crystal, SAS, etc.) could be substituted for Cognos is
desired. Microsoft SSAS (OLAP) experience and experience in Investments
and/or Banking world is a plus.



*Description*:

• Collect, analyze and develop data requirements and source-to-target
mapping documentation, aligned with approved architectural direction.

• Develop stored procedures using Microsoft SQL Server and TSQL.

• Develop reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Excel, and/or
Access using VBA automation.

• Develop reports using 3rd party application data schema and report
writing tools.

• Work in partnership with business analysts to ensure proper integration
of new solutions into existing environments.

• Work closely with IT to understand infrastructure capacity and
environment requirements for new development.

• Work with database administrators to design logical and physical data
models and ensure efficient flow and storage of information.

• Provide task-level estimated effort and development schedules to project
leads.



*REQUIREMENTS *

• 3+ years experience with BI reporting tools (e.g. SSRS, Cognos, etc.)
preferably within the financial services industry

• 3+ years experience in a major database environment (Microsoft SQL Server
preferred)

• Solid understanding of computer software applications, including strong
spreadsheet presentation skills, database applications, and report
writing/querying tools

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database environment

• Advanced SQL programming skills (TSQL preferred)

• Experience with SSRS BI Development Suite

• Experience writing and tuning TSQL stored procedures

• Experience with data/transfers/sharing using flat files, DB links, etc.

• Experience with Microsoft Office tools automation using VBA

• Proven analytical and complex problem solving skills

• Proven ability to quickly learn new data schemas and report development
tools and provide value to users

• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

• Effective oral, presentation, and written communication skills

• Bachelors or equivalent degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field
is required

• Thrives in an environment of constantly changing requirements.
