Overview
This position is for the Xfinity Home DevOps department focusing primarily
on the end-to-end environmental components on which the custom application
layer resides. This includes the design, deployment, maintenance,
monitoring, support, and problem management for: facility, network,
bare-metal, operating systems, supporting applications (such as Apache,
Oracle, etc.), and connectivity to third-party service partners. This job
requires both teamwork and a high degree of autonomy.
Linux SA/DevOps Engineer
Major Duties:
• Function as a key member of the technical team.
• Perform Linux operating system installation, upgrades,
patching, tuning, capacity management, and troubleshooting.
• Perform application software installation, upgrades, and
troubleshooting, such as Oracle, Weblogic, Apache, etc.
• Participate in planning, testing and execution of system and
application level upgrades.
• Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution activities
with other support teams (e.g. network support, NOC, vendors).
• Produce Root Cause Analysis findings that focus on
recommendations to learn from and avoid problem recurrence.
• Maintain productive relationships with peer organizations and
vendors.
• Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours coverage
as needed.
• Rare travel may be required.
Skills Required:
• Systems Administration in a production environment
• Deep understanding in some flavor of Unix
• Coding skills
• Experience with revision control systems
• Experience with systems such as Puppet or Chef
• Experience with monitoring systems
• Apache Experiece
• Understanding of TCP/IP
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
Skills Desired:
• Linux or CentOS
• Hands-on loadbalancer experience
• Experience with a Java application server
• Able to liberate data from a SQL database
• Experience with Non-relational data stores
• Understanding of HTTP
• Puppet
• Nagios
Additionally Desired Skills:
• A10

• Previous development experience
• Openstack
