who can do in-person interview next week. *Role:* VB.NET Developer *Location:* Minneapolis, MN *End Client :* HENNEPIN COUNTY H1s with excellent communication skills are considered Estimated Start Date: Jan 2nd, 2015 Estimated End Date: Jan, 2016 *Submissions Due by:* Dec, 17th 2014 Business Need · Provide a description of the business and functional needs that this SOW is to address · Describe any pertinent history, e.g. previous and future phases of a project · Include key portions of the Business Case or Project Definition such as intentions/values of the desired solution, constraints on the desired solution, and context regarding the expectations or boundaries of the work to be performed The County Attorney’s Office has existing demands and future needs that drive this Visual Basic Software Developer request. The primary work will include: VB, VB.Net upgrades to existing custom applications, learning custom applications and providing development enhancements and technical support for existing custom build applications, and moving/updating current applications to run on SQL Server 2008(from 2005). At the end of this contract the opportunity to position the staff member for a “Contract to Hire” opportunity may occur (if funded and approved). No headhunter or finder’s fees will be paid to the vendor. Description of Work to Be Performed and the Specific Skill Sets Needed: Work directly with end customers(single users and/or small groups) as well as IT staff to lead development enhancements and upgrades to existing Visual Basic custom applications(Older versions of: VB, VB .Net, SQL Server). Typical work to be performed includes: Development enhancements, support of existing custom applications, resolving incidents for user base as reported, monthly or quarterly enhancement releases for user base as agreed to. Participate in Change Management processes per HC policy. Leverage an “Agile” approach or methodology to software development/enhancement requests. Code Management and documentation supporting enhancements and version changes. Skills sets encompassing the above include: REQUIRED: 1. Minimum of 3 years prior work experience as a Software Developer(specifically with Visual Basics) 2. Software development technical skills sets with older Visual Basic versions and Visual Basic .Net applications. 3. Skills in SDLC(software development life cycle) 4. Excellent communication skills, (soft skills/people skills a must) and the ability to present changes and enhancements to non-technical audiences. 5. Skills and experience in the basics/concepts of Business Analysis(business requirements vetting). 6. Ability to self-manage and work with business directly to prioritize/negotiate software enhancement requests. 7. Ability to plan, communicate, educate any/all relevant users related to release changes/details. 8. SQL Database skills and knowledge necessary as many of the applications have a SQL backend(no DBA experience required) 9. Minimum of 2 years prior work experience related to Integrations type work (web service calls / connections to other systems (both internal to the organization and external integrations) RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED: 1. C# software development knowledge and experience a plus 2. SSRS development, support and reporting knowledge a plus 3. MVS and Entity Framework skills and knowledge a plus 4.
