Prefer an advanced degree in area of specialty. *Experience:* Preferred six years of experience working with database applications development. Preferred five years of experience developing in SQL including table modeling, SQL queries, SQL views and stored procedures Preferred five years of experience working with RBMS administration Preferred working with MySQL and SQL Server Experience working with data integration and data standards. Experience in HL7 is desired. Prefer experience in electronic medical record design, with experience in EPIC desired. *Equivalent Education and/or Experience* May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements. *Certification/Registration/Licensure:* − None. *Skills or Special Abilities:* Must be able to demonstrate an expert level knowledge of database administration. Must be able to demonstrate expertise in the area of specialty’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Must be able to demonstrate a track record working with internal/external users in order to determine needs and design solutions. Must have excellent communication skills, for both verbal and written communication with peers, senior personnel, and external contacts. Must be able to demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills, with regard to software design issues. Must demonstrate an understanding of clinical data and the use of this data in a healthcare environment, as applicable. Must demonstrate the ability to develop complex software products. Must have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and data management software. Must have an expert level knowledge of software developer tools, and documentation tools such as Visio. Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of developing server side Java *ACCOUNTABILITIES* Responsible for the initial design and development of new databases and extensive database revisions as needed for products intended for internal use and external resale. Defines product requirements and creates high-level data architectural specifications, ensuring optimal feasibility and functionality. Addresses issues with data integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms, ensuring optimal operations. Works with departmental team members to develop the data architecture strategy, goals, and objectives that support the assigned department’s initiatives. Works with technical staff to understand problems with data, and develops specifications to resolve them. Resolves customer complaints and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements from third party customers. Serves as a liaison between Information Services department to ensure appropriate hardware selection. Responsible for providing project management direction to specific initiatives, ensuring projects achieve their specified objectives in a timely and fiscally appropriate manner. Participates in the development of data documentation and dictionaries. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of data design and development by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and actively participating in professional organizations.
