*Title: Sr. SAS Applications Specialist* *Location: Dayton, OH* *Duration: 6 months* *Nature of Work:* Update and automate BASE SAS code to create reports for the KY Regulatory need. Also work with the ETL developers to build this out within the EDW They need to be extremely strong in SAS programming and be able to take complex EG projects and break them down into BASE SAS modules using macros and other techniques to streamline and automate code. *Top 3 Required Skill sets:* · *BASE SAS programming* · *SQL programming* · *Analysis, critical thinking, problem solving* *Job Summary:* Build, maintain, and restore the operational readiness of the application infrastructure in a mission critical computing environment. This position is responsible for managing SAS and assigned software products. This responsibility may include current and future applications, and may include additional systems and technologies that integrate with designated applications. *Essential Functions:* Lead technical projects from inception/design through implementation. * Coordinate vendor relationships and commitments on project involvement/deliverables. * Design and implement systematic approaches and alternatives * Identify and document business requirements for new development projects and prepare detailed technical specifications from which programs or infrastructure can be built. * Conduct preliminary studies to define needs and determine feasibility * Confer with clients and analyze business/functional requirements * Develop procedures for moving program changes, enhancements, etc. into IT production processing. * Understand and relate business/functional requirements to application/infrastructure requirements. * Lead service support activities and initiatives * Initiate and lead support activities including problem analysis, technical evaluation, work estimates, and implementation services. * Provide expert technical support for managing application involving diverse platforms * Coordinate support or project activities with all applicable constituents including customers using the systems, IT staff supporting the systems, vendors/third parties, and/or business managers. * Identify and lead, as assigned, resources and communications to facilitate work completion. * Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of application platforms, industry directions, and trends * Provide technical guidance, training, and work direction to less experienced engineers * Demonstrate technical proficiency in development and implementation of medium and complex systems and/or computing infrastructure through ability to guide others. * Strong learning competency and ability to teach others. * Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities * Assist other IT team members in understanding policies, operating procedures, and responsibilities * Mentor and train new IT team members to assist them in orientation to policies, procedures, and responsibilities. * Provide ongoing mentorship and support for questions, problems, and ideas. * Serve as an escalation point for system engineers to escalate problems and inquiries requiring further evaluation beyond the associated skill level. * Establish and maintain professional working relationships between IT and its customers and constituents. * Ability to uncover business challenges and articulate, author documentation and develop custom solutions to solve those challenges * Represent IT in project and/or business meeting and engagements. * Lead conference calls or visits with vendors/third parties. * Ability to collaborate with and motivate multiple groups toward accomplishing a task * Takes leading role or assists in software changes to the computing systems environment * Plans and performs software installations and/or configurations * Participates or coordinates testing activities * leads implementation activities and post-production support and communications * Prepares documentation and training materials for applicable constituents including customers using the system, IT staff supporting the systems, vendors/third parties, and/or business managers * Documents changes for all affected parties * Perform other duties as requested *Minimum Qualifications:* *Education:* * BS degree in MIS or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience *Experience:* * 5+ Years experience working in a medium or large operating environment supporting 1,000,000+ transactions per month. * 3+ Years experience supporting a minimum 100 person computing community. * 5+ years of programming or system analysis experience programming in base SAS * Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications * Troubleshooting advanced SAS server issues * Automating the Monitor of server activity and error logging for SAS components * Architecting formal, regularly scheduled backup processes for SAS components * 5+ Years Experience developing and debugging SAS Macros * Implementing connectivity to data sources including MS SQL and Teradata * Installing and maintaining Apache Jackrabbit and Tomcat *Certification:* * Applicable technical certifications preferred. i.e. SAS Certified Platform Administrator for SAS 9, MCSE, MCSD, CISSP *Technical Skills:* * Understanding of IIS 7.0 modular architecture and workloads * Experience Securing Web sites and Web application pools * Advanced Experience of Troubleshooting Web servers, sites and applications * Mastery of scripting tools and command line tools * Tuning IIS to improve performance * Working knowledge of J2EE and C# * Plan a high-availability solution that uses clustering services. * Plan a high-availability solution that uses Network Load Balancing. * Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities * 5+ years Experience in System engineering and operations experience on Windows and Linux platforms * SQL and HTML Development experience * 5+ years Experience and creating SAS stored
