We are looking for a Vertex Techno-Functional Analyst for supporting Global
Indirect Taxes solutions and applications. This position will be
responsible for supporting existing tax systems, translating new business
requirements into system solutions, preparing design specifications and
documenting solutions of varying complexity following the predefined
standards and best practices. Needs strong SQL, PL/SQL skills as well as
strong functional hands-on knowledge of Oracle AR, Service Contracts,
ebTax, Vertex Tax Link and the Vertex Tax Engine. The candidate should be
self-driven, and willing to take ownership of substantial portions of the
business partner relationship as well as relationship with the core
Financials Systems team.
*Responsibilities:*
- Provide functional and technical Vertex 7.0 application (Sales Tax and
VAT) support to internal business customers for OTC. Acknowledged as a
subject-matter-expert for Indirect Transaction Taxes - domestic as well as
globally – business processes and systems. Specifically should have worked
on tasks like:
o Setting up taxes in ebTax for a new operating unit/ Legal entity.
o Setting up new Taxpayers.
o Adding/ modifying nexus.
o Tax Rules/ Tax Assist Rules.
o Customize Tax Link (specifically Vertex Custom Attributes Package).
o Vertex Monthly patching as well as one-off patching.
- Develops comprehensive project plans for Tax systems implementation
projects including effort estimation.
- Can deliver on multiple project implementations in parallel and
thoroughly conversant with systems development life cycle process.
- Collaborates across organization to prepare functional specifications
according to agreed-upon business requirements.
- Support business users and help to troubleshoot complex cross functional
application issues and develop creative solutions to support business needs.
- Create unit test plans per test scenarios, participate in system and
regression testing to validate against the requirements for projects,
patches and enhancements.
- Conduct CRP and UAT testing with business users. Collaborate with BPA on
test plan and test scripts, and work closely with BPOs/BPAs to address any
functional issues.
- Support the month/year end close processes and maintenance of Oracle ERP
Systems, including boundary interfaces, to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with major patch releases and code changes to the production
environment including the regression tests and user acceptance testing.
- Effectively articulates moderately complex ideas and concepts through
clear and concise verbal and/or written communication.
*Basic Qualifications:*
- 10+ years of experience providing Vertex, Tax Link, ebTax, AR
implementation and support in a customer-facing role.
- 4+ years of experience in implementation of a tax system solution for a
global company including at least few implementations of Euro VAT, China
VAT and APAC VAT in addition to US Sales Tax.
- Hands on current experience of SQL, PL/SQL; maintaining/ modifying/
testing large blocks of code; Very good familiarity with ebTax Tables and
custom - - Vertex Schemas required.
- Hands on experience in implementing and supporting Oracle E-Business Tax,
Accounts Receivables, Service Contracts and Vertex.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
- Experience with integration of different systems/ Data Conversions.
- Degree accounting or related discipline (BA Finance or MBA Finance) is a
plus.
- Experience supporting global regions.
- Experience supporting local accounting and tax structures.
- Experience performing business requirements gathering (to be model - as
is model) and leading unit and user acceptance testing.
