This position will work to gain an understanding of system data messaging requirements in order to build a cost model for a decision on how best to back haul message information from locomotives to the data center back offices. Methods of transport can be cellular or corporate WiFi network. Models created will provide business case on if/where *W*iFi networks need to be deployed in company’s rail yards, taking into account hardware costs, cellular data costs, and data volume requirements. Some travel will be required to gather additional requirements if it is determined that yard WiFi networks are needed.
