Position: WebSphere Administrator
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Estimated Duration: 4 months Contract to Hire (NO H1B)
Position Summary:
The Technology Engineer is responsible for the overall systems
infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and
technical services and support. The Technology Engineer designs,
implements/installs, maintains and administers infrastructure systems
including software and various configurations. Monitors overall performance
to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Performs
root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective
measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and
procedures. Role model and demonstrate the company’s core values of
respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.
The Teams in this area include:
• Enterprise Web Engineering Services (support the architecture,
engineering, implementation and support of Kroger enterprise web platforms;
IBM Websphere, Tomcat, Redhat Jboss, Oracle Weblogic, Apache, IBM Websphere
Portal, IBM Websphere Commerce, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Commerce and
Microsoft Office Share Point, Siteminder, application profiling and
performance management tools, systems monitoring tools.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
• Experience in support and/or engineering for some or all of the specific
technical discipline; Web Application platforms including but not limited
to IBM Websphere, Tomcat, Redhat Jboss, Oracle Weblogic, Apache, IBM
Websphere Portal, IBM Websphere Commerce, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Commerce
and Microsoft Office Share Point, Siteminder, application profiling and
performance management tools, systems monitoring tools.
• Passing score on a selected entry test for new hires. (Test selected
based on project requirements.)
• Ability to work well with others as a member of large support and project
based teams.
• Ability to use critical thinking in order to perform diagnostics to
resolve complex systems issues.
• Proven communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate
information to customers and to all levels within the organization.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work efforts to meet customer
expectations in line with project delivery dates, system SLA’s and defined
support services expectations.
Desired Previous Job Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in IS or related equivalent work experience in an
Information Systems position.
• Technical knowledge of web engineering concepts including but not limited
to configuration of the following solutions.
• General knowledge of Java and .Net applications configuration.
• Database connectivity using ODBC/JDBC.
• Security, authentication, SSL, LDAP, Siteminder, systems account
permissions.
• Messaging, JMS, IBM MQ.
• Working knowledge of Unix, Linux, Windows, VMware, OS command line and
shell scripting.
• Knowledge of networking concepts DNS, load balancing and clustering
concepts.
• Web services configuration.
