Experience in supplier identification and development. Background in materials and material handling is a plus. Possess a strong industry track record in developing and implementing effective and efficient supplier identification & development programs/solutions is a must. Strong record in negotiating, evaluating, and selecting suppliers. Know-how in building successful project proof of concepts for Executive review is a must. Well developed project management skills are required, including ability to develop project plans, milestones, deliverables, and status reports *Job Description:* Client is seeking an individual consultant with strong business process management experience in supplier identification, development, and logistics. Candidate will lead the development and implementation of a large scale project to identify alternative material sources in lieu of existing suppliers in an effort to achieve cost savings, improve material quality and improve service level performance. Length of engagement is expected to be 18 months with the caveat that the project can end earlier if successfully implemented faster than projected. Candidate can not have an existing financial or strategic relationship with any logistics providers, including but not limited to 3PL’s, freight forwarders, long haul freight, etc. Ideal candidate will be local to New York City. *Scope of Engagement:* Build a proof of concept that will be presented to Executive leadership that re-engineers our current sourcing for alternative sourcing in the acquisition of these commodities. Sources other than the existing suppliers are being sought in an effort to reduce costs, improve material quality and advance service performance. The proof of concept must describe how qualified suppliers will be identified, how quality assurance will be verified, and that supplier capacity to meet project needs and timelines will be identified. The proof of concept must also provide analysis on cost savings that will be achieved by using alternative suppliers rather than incumbent suppliers. If the proof of concept is accepted, the candidate will be expected to: Drive the development of a comprehensive procurement strategy for the acquisition of all commodity types Create necessary solicitation documents and evaluation scorecards Assess the marketplace and identify primary and secondary qualified suppliers Lead the review of bids submitted by suppliers and create a fact-based qualification process to ensure bidders meet all minimum requirements, specifications and terms. Drive the development of a project plan that coordinates the multiple, on-going procurements with multiple suppliers to ensure that materials are made available within key project due dates. Provide status reports to project executive *Project Goals:* This project’s success will be measured against the following goals: Cost Savings – Using new qualified suppliers instead of incumbent suppliers must secure financial savings without impacting quality of service On-Time Effectiveness – Regardless of the number of new suppliers identified, materials must be shipped to a single location allowing time for pick and process, and subsequent shipment to 600 NYC locations in the mid July – early August timeline. This is mission critical. Material Qualify – Materials must meet all agreed upon specifications and there must be strict adherence to an agreed upon quality assurance program Accuracy and Completeness – Amount and type of materials ordered from each qualified supplier must accurately reflect aggregate purchase orders. Also, materials shipped to single location must be complete orders to ensure three week delivery window is met. Accuracy and completeness are of paramount importance Proof of Delivery – Documentation supporting the shipment of materials must be consistent with agreed upon format and frequency. End User Satisfaction – The 600 receiving units must find the materials from the new, qualified suppliers to be of equal or better quality. Sustainability – Establish carbon footprint of materials from incumbent suppliers and compare to new, qualified suppliers.
