*Job Description:*
Client is seeking a network/telecom engineer to manage the Northern Virginia
Transportation Operations Center networks. The candidate should have a
minimum of five years experience in the following technologies: Fiber optic
networks, Router, Switches, Firewalls, MPLS, Routing Protocols (BGP, EIGRP,
and OSPF), VPN, VOIP, LAN-MAN-WAN, DHCP/DNS/Domain Name Management,
Structured cabling (Data/Voice), Network troubleshooting tools, Disaster
Recovery Architecture and Vendor Management experience.
The candidate requires strong technical problem solving skills, with the
ability to work under pressure and manage shifting priorities and workloads
as necessary. Strong written and oral communication and customer service is
a must.
*Job Functions:*
· Proactive monitoring of links/utilization/traffic isolating issues
· Technical resource for Automated Traffic Management System
· Work with Field Engineers to resolve issues with video camera, dynamic
message sign, roadway sensor, and other Intelligent Transportation System
deployed hardware
· Manage Telecomm vendor providers (WAN circuits, Voice circuits), hardware
vendors (Cisco, Nortel)
· Develop detailed design specifications for data traffic, network security
and network enhancements as needed
