Duration: 9 Months (Possible Extensions)

Description:
The overall responsibility of the CDN Operations associate is to remotely
manage a content distribution infrastructure platform. In support of this
platform, the associates are responsible for troubleshooting and analysis,
fault resolution, configuration management, change management and performance
management. The job requires strong technical skills that may cross multiple
functions including networking, servers, applications and tools. This highly
visible position demands very strong technical professionals and will interface
directly with external clients, 3rd party vendors, and internal/external
technical teams. Duties will range from but not limited to managing servers,
network devices, and applications, verifying utility outputs, and installing
patches and software upgrades. A good candidate will come from networking
administration/support background with a large ISP or a service provider. The
associate should have in-depth experience with routers, switches and layer
4/load balancing equipment from various vendors. Unix/Windows systems
administrators from an ISP/Web-hosting background would also fit well.
Fault Mgmt Resolution & Change Execution responsibilities include:
- Restoring service as a result of outage conditions
- Participating in technical calls during outages and assisting with customer
and mgmt communications
- Performing Change Control / MACD work
- Adhering to fault mgmt ticketing documentation
- Fault resolution and ticket closure
- Assisting / Mentoring as needed
Technical Support for critical situations - responsibilities can include:
- Performing project / engineering reviews
- Technically managing major / complex outages
- Instituting instrumental improvements from technical perspective
- Performing chronic analysis and corrective planning
Required/Desired Skills and Certifications: This position requires a broad
spectrum skill set which may include the following, Server Platforms: Sun
Solaris, Linux, Windows. Applications: Squid, Weblogic, Tomcat, Apache, IIS,
Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media, Real Player Network Platforms: Cisco
equipment, Foundry switches, Nortel switches. In-Depth to Expert knowledge in
the areas of Content Distribution Networks and related Internet technologies:
DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, Web Acceleration, Media Streaming protocols/vendors (Flash,
Quicktime, Real, Media Player), caching (Squid, Novell cache appliance), video
on demand and live streams
The job is in a production operations environment and requires 24 x 7 service
coverage.
Strong experience in design, deployment, on-going administration and
troubleshooting all aspects of Cisco/Foundry/Nortel range of Internetworking
equipment (Routers, LAN/WAN Switches and Network Management products.
Certifications: CCNA/CCNP-Desired MCSE/SCNA-Required
