Dallas, TX 12 Months Need a local resource preferably with Airline Industry exp JOB DESCRIPTION The Applications Systems Architect is responsible for overall application systems architecture requiring knowledge of all aspects of designing and constructing new and existing application systems. Focus is primarily on developing and documenting the requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, and operating system environments, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs. Individual is responsible for overall end-to-end architectural solutions within a specific line of business. Responsibilities include working with Business Analysts to validate system requirements, both functional and non-functional. Developing and authoring end-to-end architectural solutions for various projects and/or systems. Includes development of the logical architecture solution and collaborating with domain-specific architects to develop the physical architecture solution. Developing the various software views necessary to clearly communicate system design to developers, infrastructure technical resources, and project managers. Ensuring architectural solutions are efficient, architecturally sound, and consistent with the enterprise technology standards, strategies and policies. Leading reviews of logical architectures, providing end-to-end vision, and assisting sector architects in analyzing performance and technology tradeoffs of various technical solutions. Providing technical oversight and guidance, promoting technical solutions, mentoring and consulting with project teams. QUALIFICATIONS * Our ideal candidate should have 10-12 years of experience designing, developing and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments. * Experience should include 4-6 years as a technical lead on development projects with responsibility for using SOA, OOA/OOO techniques and code development. * Candidate must have 2+ years experience leading application architectures for a business unit or team of sector architects. * Individual must have a good understanding of enterprise technologies such as: security, network, databases, data storage, integration, and application technologies for large applications. * Must have extensive experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and must be able to create and analyze UML diagrams which document software systems. * Candidate must have expertise in J2EE. * Must have the ability to quickly understand the overall business strategy, to analyze business processes, and to develop technical solutions to support the business strategy. * Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Must be able to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical). Superior interpersonal skills required. * Must have the ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with peers on technical solutions. * Bachelor's degree in MIS, computer science or equivalent level of experience. Required Technical Experience: * Web servers and web proxies; * Middleware solutions such as Websphere MQ; * Security infrastructure; * Relational databases; * Strong knowledge of J2EE; * General knowledge of .NET Framework and .NET Development platform; * 2+ years experience with J2EE application servers / platform. Desired Technical Experience: * Knowledge of Websphere Application Server; * Siteminder, LDAP, SSL, encryption services; * Oracle 10g; * Portal Servers; * Load balancers; * Network Routers; * Proficiency with Microsoft Word; * Proficiency with Visio.
