Role: Project Manager
Location: Detroit, MI
Desired Start Date: 4/16/2009 (Ideal candidate would be able to start
\immediately after being selected)
Estimated End Date: 12/31/2009
The Project Manager role develops detailed work plans and schedules
and
is accountable for monitoring and reporting on project metrics,
issues,
risks and overall progress. The project manager is expected to
identify,
communicate and report significant deviations in quality, cost, or
schedule. Project Managers lead, facilitate and coordinate the
resolution
of issues that impact the delivery of key deliverables or milestones.
It
is expected that the PM will have extensive knowledge and experience
of
the Project Management Institute’s standards and terminology.
Specific skills/experience (required):
* Demonstrated strong leadership skills
* Minimum 3 years experience running multi-million dollar IT
projects
* Proven experience managing large project teams and sub teams
* Proficient in formal project management methodologies
* Excellent understanding of risk management / mitigation
* High proficiency (expert-level) in the use of MS-Project
deployed for the Enterprise and used by a large program leveraging all
features
* Requirements management and scope containment skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills and Conflict resolutions skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills (English
speaking – required)
Specific skills/requirements (preferred):
* Knowledge of BCBSM or NASCO legacy processing systems
* Experience with health care systems (membership, billing,
claims, benefits and / or provider)
* Familiar with system development life cycles (SDLCs)
* Previous BCBSM project management experience or other third
party payor PM experience
Education/Certifications:
* Bachelor's degree required
* Masters degree preferred
* PMP certification preferred
Duties / Responsibilities
* Responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling,
and closing complex application and system implementation projects
using a formal project management methodology.
* Focus on ownership and maintenance of highly complex work plans
with Internal and External dependencies.
* Facilitate the development of strategic plans for projects of
high business and technical complexity.
* Ability to access complex changes, and apply to work plans with
precision and timeliness. Develops detailed work plans and schedules
using MS Project.
* Monitors project metrics for significant deviations in quality,
cost, or schedule.
* Develops and presents project-related presentations for
executive leadership.
* Adheres to Project Management Office policies, procedures and
methodologies.
* Direct and frequent involvement in sponsor, client, and customer
relations to ensure that service expectations are met.
