Dear SPINC Partner,

 

We urgently need a Computer Operations Supervisor for a 6 months' assignment
in Miami FL. This position will be for Saturday's, Sunday's, and Holidays 8
- 12 hours per day. Please e-mail matching resume/s along with your best

Position Description:

*         Supervises and ensures effective delivery of Computer Operations
Services among the department, Technical Support, Systems and Programming
Services, clients. 

*         This position will be for Saturday's, Sunday's, and Holidays 8 -
12 hours per day.

 

Responsibilities:

*         Understands and ensures the production schedules produced in BMCP
Control Products (Automated Production Scheduling System) are produced in
accordance with the priorities defined by the Supervisor and Director of
Computer and Facilities Operations. 

*         Monitors and maintains Network availability of ITS systems which
include Internet, Gradebook, and Portal access through the use of specific
monitoring tools. Responsible for escalating obvious issues through
designated on-call procedures.

*         Documents and communicates production work load status to the
following shift. Defines the cause of production failures and coordinates
them with the Supervisor, Director, and/or Systems and Programming Team
Members. 

*         Maintains adequate Tape library vault procedures, thus insuring a
proper supply of tapes, CD Media and consumable supplies. Additionally,
insures all media scheduled for Disaster Recovery and supplies are allocated
for offsite storage in the proper manner. 

*         Understands and monitors the Halon and Fire Alarm Systems.
Responsible for monitoring and reporting HVAC temperature fluctuations
inside the Network and Main Computer room areas to the administrators of
Computer and Facilities Operations. 

*         Assist with Inventory Control of Materials necessary for the
operation of the department. Responsible for insuring proper rotation of
forms are achieved throughout the stock area according to standard inventory
practices. 

*         Responsible for after-hours security of the ITS facility through
the use of strategically located surveillance camera systems. 

*         Logs all calls and incidents into an ITIL compliant HEAT help-desk
database. Additionally, identifies, analyzes, and resolves faulty equipment
failures if possible otherwise, capable of reporting to the appropriate
vendor for repair and resolution. 

*         May be required to participate in Disaster Recovery technical
discussions in defining protocol and procedures. Simulates and assists in
creating the methodology for a successful recovery effort should it be
needed. 

*         Supervises and directs operations staff on the proper operation
equipment, operating system and BMCP Control Products. 

*         May be required to assist ITS in Hurricane readiness of the
facility, Computer Room equipment and special production demands as related.
Additionally, may be required to assist with re-opening of facilities as
needed.

*         Performs System IPL's and executes systems backups, issues system
commands for control of devices.

*         Resolves faulty equipment failures if possible otherwise, capable
of reporting to the appropriate vendor for repair and resolution.

*         Performs other duties related to general administrative
responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications:

*         Seven years experience in Computer Operations with at least 5
years as a Manager or Senior Computer Operator directing, assigning and
training operations personnel on Mainframe software and hardware.

*         An understanding and working knowledge of Automated Job Scheduling
Systems preferably BMCP Control Products. Knowledge of the network platform
servers and applications would be helpful. 

*         Must have mainframe experience utilizing JES2, MVS language, with
CICS, and TSO applications. 

*         Understanding of basic networking tools and hardware. 

*         Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
