Hey Sapac-ers,

The Tribune apparently received some negative feedback for having published a series of articles about the Pakistani men who were deported under the pretext of the war on terror. We believe it is important to counter the negative feedback with a pat on the back, so the Tribune realizes that there is a substantial number of its readers who appreciate honest reporting. So, a few of us have come up with a generic thank-you letter that you can paste into a new window and send to the addresses below. Dear Sir/Madam:

I am grateful for the Chicago Tribune's balanced coverage of the consequences of the U.S. government's policy of deporting immigrants from Muslim countries who had overstayed their visas. It is very important that the mainstream American media pay attention to the plight of these men and their families.

The series of articles showed that the men who were deported were productive members of our society and did not have any links to terrorism. The articles shed light on the consequences of the U.S. government's policy: families were broken up and some of the city's neighborhoods were depleted of their commercial lifeblood.

I commend the manner in which the Tribune fearlessly pointed out that the victims of the U.S. government's war on terror have been mostly innocent men whose only crime was that they happened to be Muslim and they overstayed their visa. To focus solely on Muslim men and deport them without due process under the guise of fighting terrorism is misguided.

I hope the Tribune continues its tradition of exposing the truth and challenging popular hysteria against Muslims. Specifically I hope it continues to address the issues faced by South Asians who have been caught in the crosshair of the government's war on terror.

Sincerely,
