--- Begin Message ---Vietnamese Association of Illinois Please post Position Announcement Development Coordinator Vietnamese Association of Illinois is a non-profit, community-based organization located in Uptown, Chicago. VAI provides a comprehensive range of services to refugees and immigrants including job training and placement, economic development, programs for youth and seniors, women�s health education, English literacy, and citizenship assistance. In collaboration with other community organizations, the Association also organizes Vietnamese cultural events and participates in multi-ethnic coalition-building efforts. With over 25 staff positions, the Association�s current annual budget is over $1.7 million.VAI seeks an individual to help further the fundraising, resource development, and priorities developed in the strategic plan. The individual will report directly to VAI�s Executive Director while working in collaboration with other agency staff, board members, and volunteers. Responsibilities: 1. Work closely with Executive Director and Program Coordinators to prepare grant applications for submission to various funding sources including private foundations and government agencies. 2. Engage in ongoing research in order to both maintain existing programming and to develop innovative new programming. 3. Maintain existing relationships with funding sources and secure new sources. 4. Coordinate annual fundraising dinner and other fundraising events. 5. Develop contacts and resources to meet agency public relations needs. 6. Be responsible for official communication from the agency, including writing and editing annual report, general correspondence, and program reports. 7. Attend outside meetings as a representative of VAI. 8. Maintain frequent contact with the development staff at other refugee-based associations for the purpose of collaboration. Qualifications: 1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or University. 2. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. 3. Minimum of 2 years experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization. 4. Must be proactive, self-motivated, and able to get along with a wide range of people.
