I can't make the meeting because I'll be doing something faboo for my mom around that time, but if you talk about the Bhangra for Unity planning, let me know if anything new arises. I was thinking of calling a meeting around the middle of June for it since I have a major test June 1st and can't do it until I finish that.

Hi all,
    Just a quick reminder of this Sunday's (May 9th) SAPAC meeting.
Before or after Mother's Day festivities, come by to Mary Anne's at
812
W. Van Buren, #2G. for a SAPAC potluck lunch and meeting.

Agenda items for the meeting include:

1) Political work on restoring civil liberties: SAPAC is exploring
joining a coalition of national and local groups seeking to pass
legislation that will rollback the loss of civil liberties being faced
by immigrant populations. Samia Khan from Illinois Coalition of
Immigrant and Refugee Rights will be speaking about their initiatives.

2) Planning for India and Pakistan Independence Day events

3) Planning/update on the "Speak Up! Act Up" forum being cosponsored
by
Breakthrough. An event to engage youth impacted by immigration
policies
into the political process

4) Building alliances with people's movement's in India

5) Planning/update on South Asian Literary Forum for Spring 2005

6) 3rd I update: Screening indie South Asian films

These are just a few of the things we will be discussing.

812 W. Van Buren, #2G.  The name on the buzzer
is Mohanraj.

There should be street parking at lunchtime on a Sunday;

Alternatively, the #8 Halsted bus stops a block north at Jackston and
Halsted (get off and walk south a block to Van Buren, turn right, look
for the address)

Blue line comes within half a block too (take it to UIC-Halsted stop,
get off and walk towards the back of the train, up the ramp to
Halsted,
turn left and walk north half a block to Van Buren and look for the
address.
