Role: SQL Server DBA
Location: Providence, RI area
Duration: 6 months plus
Must be local to RI or nearby
Technical Knowledge:
System development and project life cycles. Working knowledge of
current application development technologies, hardware and network
infrastructure, and data requirements for business processes.
Operating Systems, including Windows and UNIX.
Relational Databases, including SQL Server and Oracle.
A thorough knowledge of database management and development tools used by FM
Global.
Technical Skills:
Windows/SQL Server database administration in a development environment.
Working knowledge of application development using VB.NET or C#.
Working knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture.
Project-oriented database design and construction.
Database monitoring and tuning.
Design, development and tuning of stored procedures, functions and data
migration routines.
Extract, transform and load (ETL) tools and techniques (DTS preferred).
Database performance and stress testing.
Database and system capacity planning.
Design and develop effective database solutions based on business needs and
application requirements.
Soft Skills:
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Good team player.
Organizing, planning, and reporting skills necessary for playing a
leadership role on projects utilizing the above technical skills.
