*Responsibilities:*


   - The Database Administrators role is to design, install, monitor,
   maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high
   levels of data availability.
   - This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and
   overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and
   availability of databases and their accompanying software.
   - Executes the day-to-day administration of Oracle application database
   environments; interacts with various technology teams regarding work
   requests submitted; participates in the creation of new policies,
   procedures, projects and processes.
   - Participates in the implementation of application requested database
   code and configuration changes in supported Oracle database environments
   - Provides emergency off-hour support of production systems for database
   problem resolution and recovery, as well as production applications
   - Participates in all aspects of the lifecycle for database environments.
   - Provides technical support of database environments/applications,
   including software installation, database creation, upgrades, patches,
   problem diagnosis, performance monitoring, database maintenance, process
   automation, evaluation, and tuning recommendations.
   - Evaluates, documents, and recommends database-related software products
   within technical architecture framework.
   - Develops, implements and support backup/restore, disaster recovery and
   data replication procedures and exercises
   - Provides technical guidance for junior members of the Database
   Administration team and create periodic status reports for management.



*Skills:*


   - Senior technical skills (5+ years) with Oracle 10g, 11g database
   administration in a UNIX and Windows environment.
   - Proficiency with Unix and Windows shell scripting, PERL and PL/SQL
   programming languages, SQL Query tuning, System level monitoring and tuning,
   RMAN, Advanced Networking and security options like Virtual Private database
   etc., handling BLOB objects, support of Partitioning and Oracle Text.
   - Experience in administering large databases in a complex enterprise
   environments, e.g. Oracle databases larger than 500 GB
   - Proficiency with UNIX and Windows Operating system.
   - Expertise in Oracle database performance tuning and troubleshooting
   - Knowledge of Oracle database replication, standby and Data Guard.
   - Knowledge of client connectivity tools, such as ODBC and OLEDB.
   - Experience in 3rd party tools to support the database infrastructure
   such as BMC Patrol, Remedy.
   - Experience with ERP application software like Peoplesoft –Financial
   and HR modules.
   - Experience with Oracle Security features, ONAMES, OID and OEM.
   - Strong interpersonal skills, must be a team player with the ability to
   easily and effectively interact with technical, non-technical, support, and
   business staff at all levels
   - Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation
   skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical
   audiences; needs to be and.
   - Expected to provide off-hours support at night or on weekends when
   required.
   - Expected to be on call in case of emergencies.
   - Be a self-starter and self-motivated with a proven ability to learn new
   software and technologies rapidly; ability to be proactive and to able to
   manage own projects efficiently for on-time delivery.
   - Experience and capability of working in a fast-paced environments
   including Production efficiently.
   - Ability to work collaboratively with people from other technical and
   support departments such as system administration, network support,
   technical support, operations, QA, etc.
   - Strong process management skills with ability to handle mid to large
   projects.
   - Knowledge and experience of data modeling and RAC and SQL Server is a
   plus.
