Job Description:
The Database Administrator is a contributing member of the Database
Management Services Team (DMS). DMS is a part of the Information Technology
Shared Services (ITSS) which provides technical services to the Client's
global computing environment.
Responsibilities:
The Database Administrator may be responsible for:
· Providing Oracle database administration, application tuning,
database security and production support
· Installing, upgrading and maintaining Oracle databases
· Planning and executing database backup and recovery
· Providing database tuning for performance and stability
· Managing physical database design and implementation, database
security implementation and monitoring
· Using change management processes to prevent production
disruptions and outages
· Researching and recommending solutions that best meet business
needs and Enterprise operational requirements
· Partnering with other IT organizations to ensure quality support
and delivery to the end-user.
· This position participates in an on-call rotation with other DBA's
to provide 24X7 coverage
Basic Requirements:
· 7/8 years of direct DBA experience working with Oracle databases
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other IT/IS related
major
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Expert diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem solving for Oracle
· Ability to work effectively across time zones and geography
· Self-directed and self-motivated to solve problems quickly and
creatively
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment to encourage
collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
· Applications support experience
· Infrastructure support and design experience
· Proficiency with Oracle on AIX, Linux and/or Solaris platforms
· Experience with Oracle on Windows
· Experience with Oracle in the following areas:
· Data Guard
· RMAN Backups
· Grid Control
· Experience in performance tuning
