Job Responsibilities:
Senior Software Engineer to join our Electronic Product Development team at
our NY location. Work with the latest technologies and have a direct impact
on the continued success of our world-class products.
Principal Accountabilities:
Develop online products and feature-sets for our award winning flagship
product Checkpoint.
Communicate with business and other technical teams to collect business
requirements for new projects and/or bug fixes.
Prepare detailed technical specifications for projects implemented.
Working with (or serving as) technical lead on development projects.
Coordinate with various teams to design, prototype, test, implement,
release and document assigned projects.
Competent to work in most phases of software systems analysis, design and
programming activities.
Communicate with end-users to define and correct problems.
Maintain expertise in specialized area(s) and acquire new technologies and
techniques by continuing education, individual contacts, and attendance at
appropriate meetings.
Examine existing processes, suggests improvements, develops implementation
plans once approved and works with other technical teams to implement plans
as necessary.
Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degrees.
Five (5) or more years experience in software system analysis, design and
programming required.
Experience with large, complex data problems in production environment.
Data architecting skills a plus.
Hands-on development experience with some of the following: SGML or XML
required, XSLT in a Unix environment would be a plus as well.
Unix experience is a must!
Prefer working knowledge of: Unix shell script, Perl, C, and C++.
Plusses: Omni-mark or other SGML-smart tools.
Familiarity of working with content management and/or publishing systems is
a plus.
Ability to meet project deliverables and potential to lead teams.
Experience with project management methodologies, application design, and
team building concepts.
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
