Summary: Client is looking for an experienced Java/Eclipse Plugin Developer
to join the Global Software Solutions team. The developer will be
responsible for creation, maintenance and support of Eclipse plugins that
assist with the development of our terminal software. The engineer will
need to understand plugin user interfaces, as well as developer tooling in
general. They will be responsible for all our Eclipse-related
developer-facing tools. Required experience includes CDT and JDT plugin
development, and a strong grasp of Core Java. The successful candidate will
combine a solid grasp of Core Java principles, demonstrable plugin
development experience, and an eye for tasteful user interfaces.
Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
• Lead architecture and development of our Eclipse plugins
• Support the aforementioned developer-facing plugins
• Advocate best practices for Eclipse plugin development
• Create and maintain plugin documentation
Required Skills/Experience:
• 6 years Java development experience
• 3 years Eclipse plugin development experience
• Experience with SWT and Eclipse framework
• CDT-based as well as JDT-based plug-in development
• Experience with modern software IDEs (beyond just Eclipse)
• Full knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Understanding of OSGi
• Hands on Object Oriented Design and Analysis with detailed knowledge
of design patterns
• Experience with Git and distributed version control principles
• Ability to balance longer-term project work with ongoing support
responsibilities
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related field/degree
Nice to Have:
• Hands-on experience using Maven, Ant, JUnit
• Technical writing and documentation
• Experience with payment processing
• Experience with payment terminal hardware
• Scripting beyond the shell (i.e. Perl, Python)
