*Windows Applications Packager*
* Major Area of Responsibilities: *
· Work with application owners and project teams to gather requirements,
specifications and create scripted and non-interactive installations of
Windows software for delivery through Microsoft System Center Configuration
Manager (SCCM).
· Integrate configuration changes and settings per requirements
· Actively participate in technical review meetings to understand business
requirements, strategy and delivery methodology.
· Determine application packaging effort/cost for project planning and
execution
· Perform quality assurance checks and peer packaging reviews
· Update tracking/workflow system with progress and notes
· At times provide consulting expertise for applications and software being
package by others. Regularly keep Release Manager and Application Delivery
Supervisor informed of the status of packaging, particularly items that
could impact the delivery of the product.
* Qualifications:*
· Strong proficiency at packaging applications into MSI (Microsoft
Installer) format using Wise Package Studio, AdminStudio, App-V Sequencer,
Win-Dif, InCtrl, ChangeBase.
· Strong proficiency creating transforms, custom actions, chain
installments, understanding software pre-requisites, user profile settings
for existing packages
· Strong proficiency with capturing virtual snapshots
· Remediating applications for use on Windows 7 64-bit with no
administrative privileges (user mode)
· Remediating application install issues by use of shims
· Proficient at Boolean Logic and following other people’s scripts and
in-house wrapper
· Ability to create custom scripts (VB or Powershell) and utilities (C#
preferred language)
· Ability to independently research problems and solutions using Peer’s
online resources.
· Quality customer interaction skills
· Strong communication skills
· Depth of Windows XP and Windows 7-64bit operating system knowledge and
troubleshooting applications and unit-test packages
