6+ years' experience as a DBA of Teradata databases
• Must demonstrate strong database administration skills in Teradata, with
an in-depth understanding of "how Teradata works”
• Extensive knowledge of Teradata including but not limited to
configuration, performance tuning, management, security and SQL/services
and JDBC configuration
• Experience with using the following Teradata Utilities: Bteq, multiload,
fastload, fastexport, Tpump, TPT, TD explain utility, visual explain, TSET,
TD Index Wizard, TD Statistics Wizard, ViewPoint, and SQL Assistant
• Detailed knowledge of Teradata system tables
• Understanding of backup and recovery process with Teradata BAR Solution
• Understanding of AWS/SWA to monitor Teradata Appliance health check
• Experience with building out and documenting a semantic layer and the use
of JI’s, AJI’s, Hash Indexes and PPI’s in order to maximize the user’s BI
experience
• Experience with design and modeling
• Ability to influence technical solutions in a technical forum
• SQL Server DBA experience is a plus
• UNIX experience (shell scripting, awk, sed, grep, sort, vi, etc.)
• CASE and/or data modeling tools experience, preferably ERWin with
experience in generating DDL, and LDM to PDM migration
• Experience with ODBC driver
• Knowledge of OBIEE – or any other major enterprise BI tool
• Experience with ETL tools
• Ability to be on-call for supporting production systems for 24X7 systems
availability, for emergency support, and for systems maintenance required
to be performed outside of business hours
• Actively participate in all phases of project software development life
cycle (SDLC) including requirements analysis, database design, physical
data modeling, process flow analysis, development, benchmark analysis,
performance/tuning, capacity planning, and production implementation.
• Production support responsibilities include maximizing system
availability, optimizing database and availability through ongoing
maintenance, and ensure conformance to audit and operating standards.
Provide instruction and support to junior team members
• Provide technical support to developers
• Integration of new capabilities into existing systems
• Uphold enterprise and department guidelines and policies
• Recommend and promote improvements to existing policy and procedure.
