*Position: DevOps Engineer*
*Location: San Jose, CA*
*Duration: Long term Contract*
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*
• Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and
methodologies on AWS
• Implement, and automate security controls, governance
processes, and compliance validation
• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of production systems
• Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on
AWS
• Implement systems that are highly available, scalable, and
self-healing on the AWS platform
• Work to continuously improve speed, efficiency and
scalability of production systems
• Work across functional (development/testing, deployment,
systems/infrastructure) and project teams to ensure continuous operation of
production systems
• Be able to restart different types of servers
• Monitor and watch the status of the running application
servers.
• Manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes
• Proactively communicates within and across agile teams
• Contributes to an atmosphere of cross-functional teamwork
within the organizations agile project life-cycle
*Knowledge & Experience:*
• *Certified AWS DevOps*
• Two or more years’ experience provisioning, operating, and
managing AWS environments
• Basic DBA skills for MySQL, and other various DBs
• Strong background in Linux systems (especially RHEL/CentOS),
including shell scripting and performance tuning
• Good understanding of networking
• Linux administration experience
• Coding skills in Ruby and Java desired, or another
interpreted language like Perl or Python
• Experience with some or all of the following: Groovy, Rake,
Gradle, Chef, Vagrant, Jenkins, Ant/NAnt, Maven
• Experience working with and troubleshooting Tomcat, Apache
• Effective use of Auto Scaling
• Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies
• Familiarity with unit testing and code-coverage tools
• Experience with virtual machines, such as VirtualBox
• Experience with monitoring systems
• Familiarity with functional or performance test automation
techniques and tools
• Ability to excel within an agile environment (i.e. user
stories, iterative development, continuous integration, shared ownership,
test-driven development, etc.)
• Experience with software configuration management using git,
subversion
• Experience with packaging/deploying software in Linux
• Knowledge of best practices in an always-up, always-available
service.
* Skills & Ability:*
• * Minimum of 10years’ experience with Linux operating system*
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Candidate must have an extremely high level of energy, drive,
and creativity to solve complex business problems; possess strong
leadership capabilities.
• Have a high tolerance for ambiguity and an ability to work
and thrive in a fast-paced, customer centric and sales focused
entrepreneurial environment.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
