Position: ETL QA Automation Engineer
Location: Rochester, NY
Contract: 1 year contract
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and experienced Technical
Quality Assurance Engineer to work on data warehousing, ETL and Cognos
reporting testing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong quality
assurance background, understands the technologies and test approaches
necessary to be an effective member of an agile team responsible for
multiple data warehouses and internal applications. The candidate must also
have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude,
flexibility, and ability to take the initiative and work independently when
necessary.
Principal Responsibilities:
Test ETL processes as part of data validation and quality assurance testing
of investment projects using Informatica
Validate data flows from source(s) to target(s), including validating
transformation rules or other business rules
Test Cognos reports, structure and data
Work closely with developers, business analysts and QA team members to
understand functional and technical requirements and develop test
approaches and test plans to implement
Develop/maintain appropriate test documentation such as test cases and test
plans
Maintaining test environments to ensure readiness and availability for
daily testing activities
Competencies for Success/Requirements:
Working knowledge of databases, other technical infrastructure components,
and a variety of application technologies (i.e., MS SQL Server, Informatica
ETL, Cognos, etc.).
Must have excellent SQL skills.
Working knowledge of a variety of operating systems, (i.e., Windows, SUN
Solaris, Linux, etc.).
Working knowledge of change management and continuous integration tools
(i.e., SVN, Maven, Hudson, skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
5+ years of experience in a QA Automation Engineer role.
College Degree, Bachelor level or above, in a computer sciences major or
proven technical experience using data or application development
technologies
CANDIDATE MUST HAVE:
Working knowledge of databases with excellent SQL skills
5+ years of experience in a QA Automation Engineer role.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
