hi Joshua,

yes, i mean these services. they can be removed by unregister the dependent
directory:
dbmcli -R <depend_path> inst_unreg <depend_path>

your problem with the x_server seems to be a permissions problem.
installer dont touch permissions on windows systems. created directories and
files inherit permissions from existing root folder.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks. I believe the listserver removed the email as the log is too large
(the below is only a small extract), please download from:-

http://www.visualgsm.com/download/Problem%20installing%20SAPDB%20on%20Window
s%202000%20Server%20Service%20Pack%201.txt

I've captured the NT system/application log as well.

"BTW for installation has. the name of a service instance
begins with an '_'."cleanly uninstalling you have to remove the service for
the "service
instance", which every

Do you mean SAPDB: _CPROG01, SAPDB: _CPROGRA, and SAPDB: _CSAPDBD? How to
remove them? I know for X_Server, i can go to sapdb/bin/x_server, and do a
x_server remove. Same way as that?

Thank you!

Rgds,
Joshua Lim

hello Joshua,

sorry but i didnt receive such email yesterday.
the lines you found in the log should be no problem. it indicates only that
there is no SAP DBTech key in registry.
services sql6 and sql30 are present and thats ok too.
so i cant see any problem.

BTW for cleanly uninstalling you have to remove the service for the "service
instance", which every installation has. the name of a service instance
begins with an '_'.

Hi, i've sent this email yesterday, no reply, so examined further, and
notice that the section of the log below may point out the problem. I've
actually installed SAPDB on that server before, then uninstalled by x_server
remove, removed all instances, and delete the SAP registry. Did i missed
out anything?

I suspect the problem maybe due to the 3 lines below taken from the log,
whereby sql16, and sql30 are found, but which i deleted the registry keys
away as mentioned above.
