I'm trying to backup a DB on a large system (4 GB Mem, 4 CPUs). The DB cache is set to 300.000 8k pages. (2,4 GB) When I try to start the backup interactively I get the following error in the knldiag.err file:
12-18 00:19:02 8383 ERR 11000 d0_aopen Error during fork, resource limit. 12-18 00:19:03 8387 ERR 52012 SAVE error occured, basis_err 3700 Does anyone have an idea which system imposed limit I'm touching here? [root@aubir3db P01]# grep -v \# /etc/sysctl.conf | grep kernel kernel.sysrq = 0 kernel.shmmax=3221225472 kernel.sem=4096 512000 1600 2048 kernel.msgmax=16384 kernel.shmall=3221225472 If I decrease the pages to 200.000 8k pages (1,6 GB) the backup is running fine. These happens on all 2.4 kernels and distributions I've tested (SLES and Redhat, 2.4.7, 2.4.10-6, 2.4.16-enterprise, 2.4.17-preX). Just curious or am I missing something very basic (again)? Thanx for any idea! Merry Christmas! -- Markus Doehr AUBI Baubschlaege GmbH IT Admin/SAP R/3 Basis Zum Grafenwald fon: +49 6503 917 152 54411 Hermeskeil fax: +49 6503 917 190 http://www.aubi.de
