hi

just some comments real quick.

i never built sapdb myself and i never tried. but me and many others are
using it in production successfully and there were reports on this list
that some people did successfully build it.

the sapdb team is very responsive to problems and bugs, i hope you get a
good explanation why things went so wrong.

a autoconf/make setup would really be nice. especially since this
prevents a debian package (though the tar.gz binary works) and me from
even trying so far. how close are we to something like that, folks in
berlin? this compile process really seems to be a big hurdle and gives
sapdb a bad reputation among those people that would be most likely to
contribute to it. so i agree. sapdb is not a typical open source project
yet. but you get a good database for free.

the sapdb.org website is not well organized. some links that might help
you:

http://sapdb.2scale.net/moin.cgi
(collection of links and info, e.g. mail archives, see also development
on bottom, is linked on sapdb.org)

http://home.snafu.de/~dittmar/sapdbdev/index.html
(development information, e.g. the weird names, not linked, why?!)

bye
fabian
