Hi Bob,

Getting sapdb to install is a little tricky, it took me a few tries (the
installer back in October 2000 had problems setting system path which did
not help).

Did the install complete without errors? Did you try to create the TEST
database (with the batch file)? Is XServer running?

I have problems doing upgrades / re-install. When all else fails, I tend to
remove the service from the registry manually and delete the entire sapdb
file tree.

Other thing - you have to "warm" the database (start) it before you can use
it, did you forget that last step?

Subject: Problem getting started

Hello -

I have installed the database per website instructions and when I go to
install a new database I get a -4 Communication Error for which there is
no documentation. I am set up on DELL computer running WIN2000. This is a
local installation only at the moment -- no remotes at all. Any assistance
would be welcomed.
