Hi All,

We're currently evaluating SAP in the hope of finding a replacement for SQL
Server and currently have 2 problem.

Problem 1.

I was hoping to transfer the exisitng databases from SQL Server to SAP by
creating a DTS package and then exporting the data using ODBC. I can connect
to SAP using ADO queries in Delphi and also in Excel but SQL Server either
a) refuses the connection or b) allows the connection, starts the transfer,
creates the tables and then hangs on the transfer. Obviously there is a
connection there and SQL Server is able to 'talk' to SAP but no data is
transferred. I've created simple tables of up to a million rows using
DataLoad and CSV files but I need to transfer hundreds of tables and don't
fancy creating an import script for the replication manager for each one ...
Any ideas ?

Problem 2

This is a backup problem. We can create and restore backups on the Linux
server and Windoze server but we can't restore a winodws backup to the linux
server. So far we have done a cold backup of the windows box and transferred
the file to the linux box and then used db manager to restore the file. The
database is restored but will not go online and we get this error

error code: -24988

description: sql error [db_warm -f]; -8003,Message not available

Any help greatly appreciated.
