Greetings.
I am running a
development server running sapdb 7.3 on Redhat Linux 7.1
All is fine and my
db instances are running smoothly UNTIL:
I try and
create/start my 6th instance (if 5 other instances are
running)!!
Is there some
limit to the number of database instances you can run?
The error I get if
I try and create/start a db instance (after the 5th is
running):
ERR
-24988,ERR_SQL: sql error
1,database not running
-24988,ERR_SQL: sql error
1,database not running
If I am creating a
DB (with 5 others running) the dB is created, but cannot be started to get the
system tables created and get the db to the warm state.
If I have 5
instances running, and I try and get a 6th instance to the db_warm state, I get
the above error as well!! The db can go into COLD state, OFFLINE state,
but NEVER WARM!!
Is this a Linux
system setting problem (maybe with the semaphores?) or is it a limitation of the
SAPDB server? If anyone knows, and has a solution - whatever the problem
is - PLEASE let me know!
SAPDB
people: I want to run a production server for a number of sites. I
would love to be able to run a number of db instances on 1 server - and not be
forced to increase my hardware count as soon as I need more than 5 db
instances! Any ideas?
Thanks in
advance!
