Should "LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5" have been set at an earlier stage, perhaps
when SAPDB was installed?

$ sudo /opt/sapdb/indep_prog/bin/x_server stop
Password:
    10005  XSERVER  stopped.
$ export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
$ sudo /opt/sapdb/indep_prog/bin/x_server start

    10007  XSERVER  started, 'X32|LINUX 7.3.0    Build 034-000-089-879'
$ sudo /opt/sapdb/indep_prog/bin/dbmcli -d
