Hello Peter,

RTFM ;), I'm sure it's somewhere in there.

A page is currently 8KB. You can determine a good value only by considering your
security needs and log amount. In case of a crash, log information is only lost, if
the log volume is damaged too. In this case and only in this case you lose the log
entries not jet backed up by auto save log. But that dilemma can not be solved with
log backups, as a point after a log backup is a point before a log backup.

Subject: AW: Question about Autolog-Option

Hello,

thanks for the answer, but some questions remain for me:
- How can I determine a good value (at the moment it's set to 10666 pages)
and how long does it take to fill these 10666 pages (or how many operations
are needed)? How large is a page?
- Which are the critical factors for determing LOG_SEGMENT_SIZE?
- I don't understand how I can restore the database 'til it's state shortly
before a crash, if autolog didn't write the latest log-backup-file because
it was at page 10660. Or is there something wrong with my understanding?

Sorry for these question, but these are issues which I could not solve
through 'RTFM'.

Thanks in advance
Peter
