Hello Gary,

1.) Do not use a medium name starting with "BACK", if you don't want to use a Backint
for SAP DB/Backint for Oracle.

2.) Please have a look into
http://www.sapdb.org/7.4/htmhelp/83/f718a89e867446a29f5d822c409efa/frameset.htm .
bsi.env would be the file created in step 3. What configuration step is the
problematic one?

Best Regards,

Subject: SAPDB BSI_ENV

Tilo,
I got your name from a post on the Internet. I have two questions I hope you
can answer or point me in the right direction.
1. I am running SAPDB on UNIX ( HP-UX ) . I am trying to undertsand
backup/restore and the BSI_ENV variable. I've set the variable, but was
wondering how to unset it. My company is running Omniback to do backups and
I was trying to get that integration to work. Now I want to just do a file
backup and I get a message that the bsi.env variable is not found. I thought
the variable was only used with the Omniback integration with pipes and that
if you were doing a file backup it wouldn't be used. I don't know where the
variable is kept.
2. I have read the manuals on the SAPDB to 3rd party backup tools and have a
question, The bsi.env file as it relates to the configuration file. Is this
two files or is the bsi.env file the configuration file? Also, if you have
done the Omniback configuration, what exactly needs to be in the
configuration file? I don't get the instructions in the manual.

Thank You Gary Shepherd
