Try to use *.tgz installation.
Yes. I installed it from tgz. It works. But I had almost the same problem as with rpm. I forgot to set PATH to indep binaries and x_server becomed frozed. And even with right PATH I had to star xserver only as xserver, not as ./xserver I guess that there is the same problem in rpm scripts.
Before run create_demo_db.sh change all string with
x_server start
to
x_server -X -Y start
Could you tell me about these options?

I just downloaded latest SAP DB for Linux and want to install it on SLES8.
Here is what I get:

And it stays forever.
