Out of curiosity, is there any approximate estimate on how much the
translations are used? I've never used it, so I can't say myself.
I have a cool idea for decoupling the translations from the models
themselves, but as far as I can tell right now it would require them not
being in the same form as the model.
IE, in order to add a ProductTranslation, you wouldn't be able to add one
right there in the Product form (without checking for the application in
INSTALLED_APPS, which isn't necessarily an awful idea).
This way, if you didn't want translations, you just remove the translations
app from INSTALLED_APPS and it all disappears.
Is that of interest to anyone? The biggest downside that I can tell is that
things like {{ product.translated_name }} would break, but I would assume if
you're trying to get rid of translations that's not of much concern - it
just means that the default templates provided by Satchmo would be broken,
you'd have to override them all. However, I think with the bigger shops,
that's bound to happen anyway.
